Return to Southern California
For those of you who don’t know already, this is the area that we retired from. So it was nice to come back to familiar territory at first. We went for a nice walk down to the beach a couple days after arriving.
We celebrated Sal’s birthday while in California. This was a really good thing since this meant he was able to share the celebration with his kids. This also meant he was able to spread the celebration out over an entire weekend. On Saturday, we headed up to Michelle’s house. Now this is when I remembered why I really don’t miss this area of the country all the much any more!!
And this was on a Saturday! In the middle of the day!! But Matt and Michelle said it was because it was President’s Day weekend! Since when did President’s Day weekend become a big enough weekend for this kind of traffic??!! Only in Southern California!!
For dinner tonight, Sal, being the spoiled brat that he is, got another amazing meal! It was filet and lobster on the BBQ and rice! Can you believe the great food he got for his weekend?? All kidding aside, I do have to admit, the kids took great care of him for his birthday! He also got a homemade chocolate cake with chocolate icing to seal the deal. It was awesome that we were able to be around for them to spoil him like that!
Also while we were in the neighborhood, we did our annual get together with some of the people that I used to work with before we hit the road too. We had some amazing food and good times there as well!!
And, as it almost always seems at these get togethers, Sal and Brayden end up getting into something. This time they were both tugging on the toy that Great-Grandma had made years and years ago, and then the next thing you know……pieces are all over the place!!
So, I’ll end our California trip with one more family picture. Since Camille didn’t -get in any of the other photos, here’s a nice one of Matt and his longtime girlfriend, Camille, with their kitty and us. We had such a great time while we were there!! I know this post had a lot less scenery pics, but I hope you enjoyed your virtual visit with us anyway. Happy trails!
